Probability Of Onset:

1. moderate to high probability and estimates around 10-14% in the breed

Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus

1. can strike suddenly at any age
2. risk may increase in adult and senior deep-chested dogs usually from 3+ years

Probability Of Onset:

1. moderate to high probability because deep-chested anatomy creates elevated risk

Dilated Cardiomyopathy

1. often develops silently and may manifest between 3 to 7 years of age

Probability Of Onset:

1. moderate probability and notes breed club cardiac screening emphasis

Osteochondritis Dissecans

1. typically may occur during skeletal development between 4 to 9 months of age

Probability Of Onset:

1. low to moderate probability in rapidly growing large athletic lines

Eye Disorders

1. PRA may appear between 3 to 6 years

Normally Treament Methods

Hip and Elbow Dysplasia:

  1. 1. conservative care may include strict weight management , physical therapy , hydrotherapy , joint-protective injections and oral NSAIDs
    2. severe cases might require JPS , TPO or THR depending on age and damage

Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus:

  1. 1. immediate emergency surgery may be required to decompress and untwist the stomach , assess tissue and perform gastropexy
    2. elevated food bowls are not recommended according to the provided text because they may increase risk in predisposed dogs

Dilated Cardiomyopathy:

  1. 1. there is no permanent cure and management may include medications such as Pimobendan , ACE inhibitors and diuretics to support heart function and fluid control

Osteochondritis Dissecans:

  1. 1. mild lesions may respond to strict rest
    2. flap lesions might require arthroscopic surgery to remove damaged cartilage and stimulate healing

Eye Disorders:

  1. 1. PRA has no curative treatment and management may focus on environmental consistency
    2. cataracts might be treated with surgical phacoemulsification when appropriate. Ask professional vets for detailed information.
