History
The breed began in Scotland in 1961 with a folded-ear farm cat named Susie discovered by William Ross in the Tayside or Perthshire region. The breed was developed using domestic cats and British Shorthairs and later American Shorthairs in the United States. CFA granted championship status to the shorthair in 1978 and to the longhair in 1992 and accepted straight-eared cats in 2022.

Needs
